OVERVIEW: Uganda is a home to over 1078 species of Birds of those there are twenty four rift valley endemics that can be recorded on this safari, The highlights of this safari includes, Shoebill, papyrus gonelek, Regal sunbird, Rwenzori Turacoo, African Fin foot Rwenzori night jars. It will be a so rewarding safari that you will be able to sight and record a big number o birds and wild animals from different parks of Uganda.
DAY BY DAY ACTIVIES
DAY ONE:
TRANSFER FROM ENTEBBE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL:
Our driver guide will welcome you from the airport with a warm welcome, gives you a briefing about Uganda, like the temperature, background, the brief about your birding safari. You will then transfer to the hotel for your over night as you wait for the next day’s activities. Overnight at Lake Victoria view hotel.
DAY 2:
MABAMBA SWAMP, DRIVE TO FORT PORTAL, BIRDING ENROUTE, OVERNIGHT. RWENZORI VIEW GH, B,L,D.
You will meet the guide from the hotel and then after your breakfast, you transfer to MABAMBA BAY for birding excursion, you will go with your packed lunch,
On this moment to mabamba, you will encounter a number of water birds, including the Shoebill which will be the highlight bird for that day. The species will include shoebill and other water birds like kingfishers, darters, herons, African open bill stork, among many others.
From mabamba, you will have relaxing moment from Entebbe, thereafter, drive to Fort portal, where you will drive through Kampala city or express highway, then proceed to fort portal, a tourism city. You will drive as you view a number of birds on the way which will be singing and creating a sounds and they include starlings, double toothed barbet, sunbirds, tinkebirds, weavers, egrets, ibis, among many others.
You will have your accommodation at RWENZORI VIEW GH, B,L,D.
DAY THREE:
BIRDING SEMULIKI, SEMPAYA HOT SPRINGS, RETURN TO KIBALE,
You will wake early in the morning and drive to semuliki national park, where you drive through mpondwe- fort portal road as you head to semiliki national park.
You will be able to also visit sempaya hot-springs for the great view,
On this day you will be able to see a number of bird species including; Nkulengu Rail, Yellow-throated Cuckoo, Piping Hornbill, Red-billed Dwarf Hornbill, Black Dwarf Hornbill, White-crested Hornbill, Black-casqued WattledHorbill, Red-rumpedTinkerbird, African Piculet, White-throated Blue Swallow, Yellow-throated Nicator, Leaf-love, Swamp Palm Bulbul, Lemon-bellied Crombec, Maxwell’s Black Weaver, Crested Malimbe, Red-bellied Malimbe, Blue-billed malimbe, Chestnut-breasted Negrofinch, Orange-cheeked Waxbill. Among others.
You will then drive back to Kibale at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Accommodation at ISUNGA LODGE.
DAY FOUR:
BIRD IN KIBALE FOREST THEN BOGODI SWAMP,
You will have your morning breakfast and drive to the forest in search of many bird species, recording a number of birds including the parrots, Great Blue Turracco, Yellow-Spotted Nictor. Yeloow-RumoedTinkerbird, SpeckeledTinkerbird, Little Greenbul, Superb Sunbird, African Pitta, White Thighed Hornbill, Grey-Winged Robin, Blue-Shouldered Robin-Chat, Yellow-Spotted Berbet, Black-Billed Turacco, White-Naped Pigeon, Green-Breasted Pitta, Purple-Headed Starling, Red-Chested Frufftail, Joyful Greenbul, CabinisGreenbul, and many other bird species.
AFTERNOON SWAMP WALK AND BIRDING AT BIGODI
You will then go for lunch at the hotel, thereafter go for a swamp walk at bigodi as you will see a number of birds, like Waxbills, Weavers, Cukoos, Kingfishers, Fly catchers, and so many others. You will then return to the hotel for your evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Overnight at ISUNGA LODGE.
DAY FIVE:
TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE OVER 400 BIRD SPECIES
You will have your breakfast from the hotel and thereafter, you will drive to queen Elizabeth national park, you will drive via Fort portal- Mpondwe road, a 2 and a half hour drive. You will drive as you sight a number of birds on the road. Reach in queen Elizabeth national park at mid-day, check in from the hotel, have you lunch and thereafter go in for a boat cruise, where you will be able to experience and encounter a number of water birds including the Great cormorant, Saddle-billed stork, Yellow billed stork, Hamerkop, Goliath heron, Grey heron, Kingfishers, like pied kingfisher, woodland kingfisher among others.
You will also encounter other animals like hippos, crocodiles, among others.
This boat cruise will be done from Kazinga channel which connects lake Edward and Lake George, and its approximately 30km long, from point to point this channel is a dominant feature of queen Elizabeth national park.
ACCOMMODATION AT ENGANZI GAME LODGE
DAY SIX:
MORNING GAME DRIVE AND BIRDING AT THE CRATER.
You will start your day with a delicious breakfast in the morning, and thereafter, you will have your way in the jungle where you will be able to do a morning game drive as you will encounter a number of wild animals including lions, leopards, elephants, antelopes, hyenas, buffaloes, among others.
You will return to your hotel and have your lunch, then after, drive to the crater lake and bunyampaka lake (salt lake). In this place, you will be able to see a number of birds, including Martial Eagle, Black-rumped Buttonquail, African Skimmer, Chapin’s Flycatcher, Pinkbacked Pelican, African Broadbill, Verreaux’s Eagle Owl, Black Bee-eater, White-tailed Lark, White-winged Warbler, Papyrus Gonolek, Papyrus Canary, Corncrake, Lesser and Greater Flamingo, Shoebill, Bar-tailed Godwit.
We shall be able to visit these hotspots as they are good for birding. They include: Kazinga Channel, Kasenyi Area, Mweya Peninsula, Maramagambo Forest, Ishasha Sector, Lake Kikorongo, Katunguru Bridge area and Katwe Area
ACCOMMODATION AT ENGANZI SAFARI LODGE.
DAY SEVEN:
DRIVE TO ISHASHA FOR TREE CLIMBING LIONS AND BIRDING:
You will wake up in the morning with breakfast, then drive the southern part of queen Elizabeth national park, as you head to ishasha, and this is where you will be able to see the tree climbing lions,
You will do your game drive that will give you an opportunity to encounter these wild giants, lions, and many other wild animals including bufalloes, elephants, among many others.
You will have your lunch and then go in for an afternoon drive where you will encounter a number of birds like, Chapin’s Flycatcher, Pinkbacked Pelican, African Broadbill, Verreaux’s Eagle Owl, Black Bee-eater, White-tailed Lark, White-winged Warbler, Papyrus Gonolek, Papyrus Canary, Corncrake, Lesser and Greater Flamingo and many others.
ACCOMMODATION AT TOPI LODGE.
DAY EIGHT:
TRANSFER TO BWINDI, WITHBIRDING ENROUTE AS YOU SEE A NUMBER OF BIRDS.
You will have your morning breakfast, then drive out of Ishasha, queen Elizabeth national park, as you head to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park with lunch enroute,
You will drive through the beautiful sceneries of Uganda in south western Uganda, where you will spot a number of birds species from different sectors of the park. Including Huhoma, nkuringo, and Rushaga.
You will check in from the hotel and then have a relaxing evening in bwindi national park, you will be relaxing as you enjoy the singing sounds of the birds, as they welcome you to their habitants.
You will have your dinner and overnight as you wait for your next day.
On your way to Bwindi national park, you will be able to see birds along the way including; African Flycatcher-chat, African Dusky Flycatcher, Ross’s Turaco, Black Bee-eater, Grey-cheeked Hornbill, Angolan Swallow, African.Broadbill and many others.
ACCOMMODATION AT BUHOMA COMMUNITY REST CAMP.
DAY NINE: BIRDING BWINDI
You will have your morning breakfast from the hotel, after when you will start your day with birding direct where you will go to school trail looking for and recording a number of birds. As soon as you enter the forest, you will be welcomed to the forest by the most beautiful singing birds.
In this sector, you will be able to record a number of forest birds like Cassin’s Flycatcher, Ruwenzori Batis, Ansorge’sGreenbul, Klaas’s Cuckoo, White-throated Greenbul, Snowy-crowned Robin-chat, African Paradise flycatcher, Cape Wagtail, Mountain Wagtail, Yellow-fronted Canary, Archer’s Robin-chat, Dusky Twin spot, Brown-capped Weaver, Vieillot’s Black Weaver, Lühder’s Bush-shrike, Mackinnon’s Shrike, Blue Spotted wood dove, Tambourine dove, Handsome francolin, Helmeted guinea fowl, African Goshawk, Sooty Falcon, Great Blue Turaco, African Wood-owl, African Pygmy-kingfisher, Double-toothed Barbet, Elliot’s Woodpecker, Yellow-whiskered, African Flycatcher-chat, African Dusky Flycatcher, Ross’s Turaco, Black Bee-eater, Grey-cheeked Hornbill, Angolan Swallow, African. Broadbill among many other bird species.
Return to the hotel for lunch, where after, you will have an evening walk, as you enjoy many more bird species, and the great view of the green hills of the park.
Have your evening relaxation and, dinner and overnight at the hotel as you wait for the next day..
ACCOMMODATION AT BROADBIL FOREST CAMP.
DAY TEN:
BWINDI, BIRDING BWINDI SWAMP AND BWINDI BIRDING TRAILS.
You will be welcomed to a new day with the most rewarding and delicious morning breakfast, then after you will drive to Nkuringo sector of bwindi forest national park with your packed lunch, where you will encounter a number of bird species including , short tailed warbler, white tailed blue flycatcher, garners warbler and African emerald cuckoo, African Green Broadbill -Pseudocalyptomenagraueri-Vulnerable, Grauer’s Rush Warbler -Bradypterusgraueri; Endangered, Chapin’s Flycatcher -Muscicapalendu, among many birds.
You will return to the hotel for your lunch, and then go in for an afternoon walk and birding where you will be able to record a big number of birds LIKE short tailed warbler, white tailed blue flycatcher, garners warbler and African emerald cuckoo, African Green Broadbill -Pseudocalyptomenagraueri-Vulnerable, Grauer’s Rush Warbler -Bradypterusgraueri; Endangered, Chapin’s Flycatcher -Muscicapalendu, as you also enjoy the breathtaking nature and great view of the places in south western Uganda.
ACCOMMODATION AT BROADBIL FOREST CAMP.
DAY ELVEN: BIRDING BWINDI AND TRANSFER TO LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
You will wake up in the morning with your breakfast, then go in for birding, where you will record a number of birds inclidingAfrican Paradise flycatcher, Cape Wagtail, Mountain Wagtail, Yellow-fronted Canary, Archer’s Robin-chat, Dusky Twin spot, Brown-capped Weaver, Vieillot’s Black Weaver, Lühder’s Bush-shrike, Mackinnon’s Shrike, Blue Spotted wood dove, Tambourine dove, Handsome francolin, Helmeted guinea fowl, African Goshawk, Sooty Falcon, Great Blue Turaco, African Wood-owl, African Pygmy-kingfisher, Double-toothed Barbet, Elliot’s Woodpecker and many others.
You will have your lunch from the hotel and then start your journey to Lake Mburo national park. You will reach in lake mbuo national park in the evening, then checkin from the hotel, do an evening walk in the park to see some birds and other aninmals.
Return to the hotel, have dinner, overnight and wait for the next day.
ACCOMMODATION AT RWAKOBO LODGE
DAY TWELVE: BIRDING AND BOAT CRUIDE IN LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK.
You will start a new day with a morning game drive where you will be able to see a number of animals like giraffes, antelopes, zebras, warthogs among others.
In lake mburo national park, you will be able to see African Finfoot in big numbers. Remember lake mburo national park has got over 315 bird species which can be spotted...
You will also be able to sight a number of birds like rare Shoebil, African finfoot (in big numbers), Saddle billed stork, papyrus yellow warbler, brown chested wattle plover, carruther’scisticola, taboracisticola, great snipe, Abyssinian ground hornbill, African fish eagle, saddle billed stork, and many other bird species.
An afternoon walk will also reward you with a great view of the the real and original nature. You will sight a number of birds like water birds including the kingfishers, African finfoot among others. Also Afternoon Boat Cruise for best of Shoe-bill and African finfoot, Fish eagle, Hippopotamuses and Crocodiles. Return to the hotel for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
OVERNIGHT AT RWAKOBO LODGE.
DAY THERTEEN: GAME DRIVE AND AFTERNOON BOAT CRUISE:
You will start a new day with a morning game drive where you will be able to see a number of animals like giraffes, antelopes, zebras, warthogs among others.
In lake mburo national park, you will be able to see African Finfoot in big numbers.
You will also be able to sight a number of birds like rare Shoebil, African finfoot (in big numbers), Saddle billed stork, papyrus yellow warbler, brown chested wattle plover, carruther’scisticola, taboracisticola, great snipe, Abyssinian ground hornbill, African fish eagle, saddle billed stork, and many other bird species. An afternoon walk will also reward you with a great view of the the real and original nature. You will sight a number of birds like water birds including the kingfishers, African finfoot among others. You will then have an afternoon boat cruise, where you will encounter a number of water birds, like the kingfishers, lapwings, finfoot among others, you will also be able to see animals like hippos, crocodiles among other.
OVERNIGHT AT RWAKOBO LODGE;
DAY FOURTEEN:
LAKE MBURO WALK/GAME DRIVE, KAKO SWAMP, EQUATOR, TRANSFER ENTEBBE
You will wake up in the morning, have your breakfast from the hotel, have walks in the park as you site wild animals (none dangerous) and other bird species, you will enjoy the breakthataking moment in the park,
Thereafter, you will check out from the hotel, and drive to KampalaEntebbe with a stopover and lunch from equator , and at the same time, you will have a visit to the equator for photography, then proceed to Entebbe, reach in the evening, check in from the hotel for dinner and overnight.
ACCOMMODATION AT LAKE VICTORIA VIEW HOTEL.
DAY FIFTEEN: BIRDING AROUND ENTEBBE, BOTANICAL GARDENS
You will wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast from the hotel, then drive to Entebbe botanical gardens just 10 minutes drive, for birding where you will encounter a number of birds like, tinkerbirds, Great blue turacco, Eastern plantain eater, sunbirds, giant kingfishers, pied kingfishers, darter, herons, African open bill stork, egrets, saddle bill stork, eladoposisi, bulbuls, among many other birds. OVER 103 birds are recorded in botanical gardens.
You will then return for your lunch and thereafter, the tour and birding guide will transfer you to Entebbe international airport.
