
Gorilla habituation is a process where wild mountain gorillas are trained to get used to people (Not actual definition). Gorilla Habituation may take between two to three years to be completed and during this time, researchers keep on visiting an identified Wild gorilla group on a daily basis. In Uganda, these a habituated and unhabituated gorilla groups, just to remind you that Uganda hosts a biggest gorilla population mostly found in Bwindi impenetrable national park.
You can get a gorilla habituation permit in Uganda for your most rewarding experience, and Gorilla Habituation experience is different from normal gorilla tracking / trekking experience. When on gorilla habituation experience, you get your permit at USD 1,500 per person, and here you are given a chance to spend ample time with these gorillas, learning about their habits nd behaviors, right from their beds, as they get up, looking for feeds.
You will always have a chance to meet the young and mature gorillas, as they detangle the tree branches intertwined as they try to block your ways as they simultaneously hold tree branches for you paving a way for you.

Mountain gorillas only live in the dense vegetation of Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and along the dormant volcanic Virunga mountain range that stretches across Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, Uganda’s Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, and Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
A gorilla tracking permit will always cost $700 per person for foreigners and then ugx 250,000 per person for the East African citizens. The gorilla habituations costs USD 1,500 per person.

Trekking mountain gorillas in Africa can only be done in three countries which include; Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Although dominant and strong, mountain gorillas are gentle and shy. The mountain gorillas which trekkers are able to visit have also become habituated to the presence of humans. The habituation process takes close to two years, and habituated gorilla in particular are considered safe to be around. Uganda has two places where these Mountain Gorillas may be seen, one is Mgahinga Gorilla Park; a stunning park and a component of the Virunga chain of towering volcanoes that extend into the DRC and Rwanda, and then in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Habituation in Uganda is done by a group of researchers who operated under the department of Research and Monitoring which is under Uganda Wildlife Authority. The exercise involves visiting a selected family of wild gorillas every day until it gets used to these researchers. However, tourists can get the gorilla habituation permits, where you go with the researchers, and get the ample time with the gorillas, right from morning, to when it get to day time or evening. This is an amazing, unforgettable, memorable and rewarding moments as you will have enough time with the ultimate gorillas, learning their ways of living.
