Safari Overview

Uganda is a home to over 1078 species of Birds of those there are twenty four rift valley endemics that can be recorded on this safari, The highlights of this safari includes, Shoebill, papyrus gonelek, Regal sunbird, Rwenzori Turacoo,  African Finfoot Rwenzori night jars.

It will be a so rewarding safari that you will be able to sight and record a big number o birds and wild animals from different parks of Uganda.

 

Itinerary

Day 1TRANSFER FROM KAMPALA TO KIBALE NATIONAL PARK YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE OVER 340 BIRD SPECIES ACCOMMODATION IN KALYA COURTS

You will be picked by our experienced birding guide who will brief you about this ultimate birding experience in Uganda. You will then start your day after you break fast from kampala or Entebbe, then proceed to kibale national park a 6 hour and 30 minute drive with stopovers for lunch and refreshments. You will be able to sight some birds on the way to kibale forest national park, like starlings, doves, eastern plantain eater among others as you drive on a snake shaped roads,
You will also be enjoying the most fascinating, rewarding, and great views of green natures in Uganda.
Reach in kibale national park in the evening and relax, have your dinner and overnight as you wait for the next day.

Day 2BIRDING AND AFTERNOON SWAMP WALK AS YOU RECORD A LOT OF BIRDS

You will have your morning breakfast and drive to the forest in search of many bird species, recording a number of birds including the parrots, Great Blue Turracco, Yellow-Spotted Nictor. Yeloow-Rumoed Tinker bird, Speckeled Tinkerbird, Little Greenbul, Superb Sunbird, African Pitta, White Thighed Hornbill, Grey-Winged Robin, Blue-Shouldered Robin-Chat, Yellow-Spotted Berbet, Black-Billed Turacco, White-Naped Pigeon, Green-Breasted Pitta, Purple-Headed Starling, Red-Chested Frufftail, Joyful Greenbul, Cabinis Greenbul, and many other bird species.

AFTERNOON SWAMP WALK AND BIRDING AT BIGODI
You will then go for lunch at the hotel, thereafter go for a swamp walk at bigodi as you will see a number of birds, like Waxbills, Weavers, Cukoos, Kingfishers, Fly catchers, and so many others.
You will then return to the hotel for your evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3BIRDING IN KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

You will be welcomed to a new day with a beautiful and delicious breakfast, where after you will begin the day with birding activities with your packed lunch, where you will spent this time with a number of birds in the jungle,
Among the birds you will be able to see include Abyssinian Ground Thrush, African Pitta, Black Capped Apails, Black- Eared Ground Thrush, Afep Pigeon, Blue-Breasted Kingfisher, Great-Blue Turacco, Yellow-Rumped Tinkerbird, Whit-Naked Pigeon, Rwenzori Apails, Scaly-Breasted Illadoposis, Red-Chested Owlet, Grey Parrot, Crowned Eagle, Blue-Headed Bee-Eater and many other bird species,

NB:OVER 340 BIRD SPECIES ARE RECORED AND CAN BE SEEN IN KIBALE NATIONAL PARK.

Day 4TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE OVER 400 BIRD SPECIES ACCOMMODATION AT ENGIRI GAME LODGE

You will have your breakfast from the hotel and thereafter, you will drive to queen Elizabeth national park, you will drive via Fort portal- Mpondwe road, a 2 and a half hour drive. You will drive as you sight a number of birds on the road.
Reach in queen Elizabeth national park at mid-day, check in from the hotel, have you lunch and thereafter go in for a boat cruise, where you will be able to experience and encounter a number of water birds including the Great cormorant, Saddle-billed stork, Yellow billed stork, Hamerkop, Goliath heron, Grey heron, Kingfishers, like pied kingfisher, woodland kingfisher among others.
You will also encounter other animals like hippos, crocodiles, among others.
This boat cruise will be done from Kazinga channel which connects lake Edward and Lake George, and its approximately 30km long, from point to point this channel is a dominant feature of queen Elizabeth national park.

Day 5MORNING GAME DRIVE AND AFTER BIRDING ALONG KAZINGA

You will start your day with a delicious breakfast in the morning, and thereafter, you will have your way in the jungle where you will be able to do a morning game drive as you will encounter a number of wild animals including lions, leopards, elephants, antelopes, hyenas, buffaloes, among others.
Return to the hotel for your lunch, and after, go in for an afternoon boat cruise, and evening game drive, on this day, you will encounter a number of bird species including, African finfoot, African hobby, African skimmer, Ayres’s hawk eagle, Black-rumped buttonquail, Crab-plover, Common-sand martin, Great-white pelican, Palm-nut vulture, Shoebill, Spotted redshank, Western-banded snake eagle, Yellow-billed wattle -eye, Yellow throated cuckoo.
You will be able to see more other birds, as its well known that queen Elizabeth national park is a good birding destination with over 600 bird species.

Day 6BIRDING IN QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

You will start this sixth day of your birding safari with a morning breakfast, and thereafter, you will drive in the park as you look and record a number of bird species, including Flycatchers, black billed bustard, flapet lark, white tailed lark, palm but vulture, lon crested eagle, croaking cisticola, hooded vulture, white backed vulture, brown backed scrub robin, sitting cisticola, ripeols griffon, African morning dove, grey headed kingfisher, little bee-eater, Nubian woodpecker, swifts, Pied kingfisher, Marachite kingfishervand many other birds,
You will then return to the hotel for lunch, and then go for an afternoon walk enjoying the park view as you record a big number of birds, (however, this can be done with a van as you drive though the park seeing a number of birds.)
Return then to the hotel for lunch and then go in for dinner and overnight.

Day yBIRDING IN MARAMAGAMBO FOREST QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK;

Have a morning breakfast and you will get your packed lunch and go for full day birding in the Maramagambo Forest – the south eastern sector of the park. The Entrance road to the forest passes through seasonally moist grassland that supports warblers, Singing Cisticola, Marsh tchagra, black bishop waxbills. You will walk along three trails which are best for birding, i.e. the Kamirenjojo trail, the Paki Trail and the Kyasanduka trail. Watch out for birds like Red headed blue bill, Blue breasted Kingfisher, Black winged Oriole, Chestnut breasted Negrofinch, Red-tailed Bristle bill and Green Crombec and many other bird species

Day 8TRANSFER TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK . YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE OVER 300 BIRD SPECIES ACCOMMODATION AT RUSHAGA GORILA HAVEN

You will have your morning breakfast, then drive out of queen Elizabeth national park, as you head to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park with lunch enroute,
You will drive through the beautiful sceneries of Uganda in south western Uganda, where you will spot a number of birds species from different sectors of the park. Including Huhoma, nkuringo, and Rushaga.
You will check in from the hotel and then have a relaxing evening in bwindi national park, you will be relaxing as you enjoy the singing sounds of the birds, as they welcome you to their habitants.
You will have your dinner and overnight as you wait for your next day.

Day 9BIRDING IN RUSHAGA (BWINDI NP)

You will have your morning breakfast from the hotel, after when you will start your day with birding direct where you go in the forest to look for birds. As soon as you enter the forest, you will be welcomed to the forest by the most beautiful singing birds.
In this sector, you will be able to record a number of forest birds like Cassin’s Flycatcher, Ruwenzori Batis, Ansorge’s Greenbul, Klaas’s Cuckoo, White-throated Greenbul, Snowy-crowned Robin-chat, African Paradise flycatcher, Cape Wagtail, Mountain Wagtail, Yellow-fronted Canary, Archer’s Robin-chat, Dusky Twin spot, Brown-capped Weaver, Vieillot’s Black Weaver, Lühder’s Bush-shrike, Mackinnon’s Shrike, Blue Spotted wood dove, Tambourine dove, Handsome francolin, Helmeted guinea fowl, African Goshawk, Sooty Falcon, Great Blue Turaco, African Wood-owl, African Pygmy-kingfisher, Double-toothed Barbet, Elliot’s Woodpecker, Yellow-whiskered, African Flycatcher-chat, African Dusky Flycatcher, Ross’s Turaco, Black Bee-eater, Grey-cheeked Hornbill, Angolan Swallow, African. Broadbill among many other bird species.
Return to the hotel for lunch, where after, you will have an evening walk, as you enjoy many more bird species, and the great view of the green hills of the park.

Have your evening relaxation and, dinner and overnight at the hotel as you wait for the next day.

Day 10DRIVE TO NKURINGO FOR BIRDING;

You will be welcomed to a new day with the most rewarding and delicious morning breakfast, then after you will drive to Nkuringo sector of bwindi forest national park with your packed lunch, where you will encounter a number of bird species including , short tailed warbler, white tailed blue flycatcher, garners warbler and African emerald cuckoo, African Green Broadbill -Pseudocalyptomena graueri-Vulnerable, Grauer’s Rush Warbler -Bradypterus graueri; Endangered, Chapin’s Flycatcher -Muscicapa lendu, among many birds.
You then drive to kisoro town where you will have your evening relaxation near mutanda lake, dinner and overnight in kisoro.

NB: Bwindi impenetrable forest national park is not only for birds or gorillas, but has got the most rewrding, fascinating, and perfect view of green pastures and hills that make it more beautiful and excites many visitors.

Day 11DRIVE TO LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK; OVER 350 BIRD SPECIES CAN BEE SEEN ACCOMMODATION AT EAGLE’S NEST HOTEL

After your morning breakfast, drive to lake mbru national park with a stopover for lunch in Mbarara at igongo cultural center, you will drive through Kisoro-Kabale districts,
You will then proceed to lake mburo national park, check in from the hotel, and then relax, from the park as you enjoy the natural smell of nature, great view of the park, you will then have your dinner and overnight as you wait for the next day.

Day 12MORNING GAME DRIVE AND AFTERNOON NATURE WALK TO SPOT ANIMALS AD A NUMBER OF BIRDS;

You will start a new day with a morning game drive where you will be able to see a number of animals like giraffes, antelopes, zebras, warthogs among others.
In lake mburo national park, you will be able to see African Finfoot in big numbers. Remember lake mburo national park has got over 315 bird species which can be spotted…
You will also be able to sight a number of birds like rare Shoebil, African finfoot (in big numbers), Saddle billed stork, papyrus yellow warbler, brown chested wattle plover, carruther’s cisticola, tabora cisticola, great snipe, Abyssinian ground hornbill, African fish eagle, saddle billed stork, and many other bird species.

An afternoon walk will also reward you with a great view of the the real and original nature. You will sight a number of birds like water birds including the kingfishers, African finfoot among others.

Also Afternoon Boat Cruise for best of Shoe-bill and African finfoot, Fish eagle, Hippopotamuses and Crocodiles.
Return to the hotel for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 13MORNING BIRDING WITH BIRD WATCHING AND TRNSFER TO KAMPALA. ACCOMMODATION AT TROOS HOTEL

After early morning breakfast drive to Nshara gate for game drive in search of animal such as Giraffe, Buffalo, Impala, Zebra, Water buck, Topi, Eland, Warthog, Bush Buck, Vervet Monkey, Baboon combined together with the best sightings and special Bird species here includes, Bateleur, crested Francolin, Lilac-breasted roller, Brown parrot, among others.

You will then drive to kampala where you will have an evening dinner and overnight as you wait for the next day.

Day 14DRIVE TO MABAMBA IN SEARCH FOR A SHOEBILL AND OTHER WATER BIRDS;

You will have your morning breakfast from your hotel, and drive to mabamba bay with your packed lunch, in search for the shoebill, you will be having higher chances of seeing the big numbers of shoebill and other water birds like kingfishers, darters, herons, African open bill stork, and many other species..
You will then after, drive back to Kampala, where you will have your overnight and mark the end of the trip.
