Welcome to Uganda where you can see the giraffes. A giraffe in Uganda is h world’s tallest land animal , and one of the most interesting animal that everyone would see.
There are different types of giraffes and these include the following: Rothschild’s giraffe, Northern Giraffe, Reticulated Giraffe, West African giraffe, Masai giraffe and others. While in Uganda, you can see the Rothschild’s giraffe, and these can be see in Murchison falls national park, Lake mburo national park, and Kidepo valley national park, Due to the fact Giraffes tongues are out so frequently, grazing on vegetation, they have evolved a blueish/black colour, ensuring they don’t burn under the African sun!
Uganda hosts the only natural remaining population of close to 1,000 of the 2,500 Rothschild’s giraffes in the world. The rest are in small populations reintroduced in parks in Kidepo Valley and Lake Mburo and in conservancies in Kenya. Uganda is home to over 50% of Nubian giraffe (formerly known as Rothschild’s giraffe) in the wild. Nubian giraffe are a subspecies of the Northern giraffe. National Geographic confirms that these gentle giants are the tallest land mammals in the world. Their necks are 6 feet long on average, which is why they need powerful cardiovascular systems. Unlike octopus or squid — which do have multiple hearts — giraffes only have one heart.
